By the way this is not my eBay it's the developers, I just happened to run across it on eBay and figured I'd let the community know.
Messed up. Selling a hack of open source software.

I'm not selling anything so I think you better get your facts straight. I saw this posted on eBay and I'm letting the community know. Do with it what you will. But don't accuse me of selling anything because that's a lie.Messed up. Selling a hack of open source software.

I wasn't referring to you.
Btw, I'd post the TWRP link back up, but the dev asked me to take it down. smh
*Edit: I understand. I've bought modified software with open source origins in the past. And people have to support themselves and sometimes others as well.

The only reason there is no Rom posted for this device in this forum is for that exact reason...
- #605
The code is open sourced correct and should not be sold. I agree... However, time and effort along with trail and error go into getting it to work. A lot of people have downloaded the work of this dev. Some have Donated a lot of money to bring this to this community (including myself) please show respect for the work of all developers and the contributors that made this possible by a simple (Click on the Like Button) a Dollar donation to buy a coffee. The only reason there is no Rom posted for this device in this forum is for that exact reason...
I see both sides of it, and edited my last post to reflect my stance after further thought. I've shared a lot. If you are/were part of the Sony modding and/or emulation scenes, you might know who I am. I have shared a few modification projects (along the lines of something like this) and received very few "thanks", reputation points, or expressions of gratitude in general. Yet my file host/s show (for some uploads) 1000s of downloads. This doesn't add up. It causes me to wanna stop sharing my works as well. I don't recall really ever downloading something somebody shared, and not thanked them. The exceptions, which happen from time-to-time, are when I don't have access to my account, or sites where I don't care to create an acct., and am therefore not able to to thank a dev.
However, it tends to not sit over well when people who have thanked somebody get lumped in with leechers, and punished as well. It also doesn't sit over well when you initially offer something and then rip it away. I have done that once before though.
I've felt this way since I transitioned from the Sony scene to this one: This scene seems to have way more fickle devs, and disrespectful users than I ever recall seeing in the Sony scene. I am both an end user and content creator/dev, so I see both sides of the coin.
I see too, users with brass balls to start talkin' $#!7, but not having steel balls to say "I'm sorry, I was wrong".
I'm just sayin', I see both sides of the fence. I couldn't call myself an objective human being if I didn't. And I consider myself objective.

I know first hand how hard messi worked on this project, he did all the work but I helped him debug it because he didn't own the device. I can say for certain that his intention was never to make money off this project he did it for the good of the community, but I can totally understand his current position because I have seen the download stats and you wouldn't believe how many people have used his work without so much as a thanks. Also people being rude or disrespectful, it's really unbelievable how entitled some people act. I'm not throwing out accusations at anyone I'm just saying in general. Your getting free work from a dev who spent days and days working on a project for a device that he doesn't even own, taking time out of his own life to help and you can't even hit the thanks. I helped him out and still threw him $25 because I know how hard he worked and appreciate all he's done for the community. It was a small price to pay for root. I tried to root this device myself and failed so no one knows better than me what it took to get here. Therefore I have nothing but good things to say about messi, he's a good person and deserves the respect of this community.I see both sides of it, and edited my last post to reflect my stance after further thought. I had to double-check to make sure I thanked messi. Sometimes I forget. I thanked him. But I looked over at how many thanks he got!! WOW! Only 25!! He's the only dev I know of currently who has offered to share such a work for this device. I apologize. You're absolutely right about this entitlement $#!7. Unbelievable. Technology and knowledge increase, and morality and etiquette decrease over time. Humanity has a problem (including myself). But I already knew this. I hardly share my projects anymore because of leechers. I just had a knee-jerk reaction to messi pulling the plug, so again I apologize to him.

Humans are so interesting, how we measure our worth on likes, download counts, etc.
2cents
Moving on. After softbrick, i wiped my system in adb, and used LG bridge to recover factory image, and recovery.
Used steps in first post to install TWRP, and root the phone again. However, everything worked flawless, except root failed to flash.
(possibly due to LG updated firmware? I do not know) any ideas would be nice

Lol, that's too funny, it's so easy to say after the work is already done and your the one reaping the benefits, if you were so willing to help then why didn't you develop a root method? Why did someone have to pm you?Your right, that was easy for me to say.

Anyone successful using kingroot after installing TWRP?

I think I'm well within my right to debate since I helped messi with this project doing all the testing and debugging of the recovery, and even though messi did most of the work, I personally know how many hours myself and messi and led eyes spent working on this project. My whole point is that it's very easy to just take and forget were it came from, but it doesn't take all that much effort to simply hit the thanks and show some appreciation to messi for all the hard work he put in. I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself, he got hundreds of downloads and 25 thanks, as well as harassment and complaining from users. How can you not understand his stance in that he doesn't want to help out a bunch of people who don't appreciate his work. I don't speak for the whole community as there were a few who did, I am speaking about the vast majority.Lets not debate on moral issues of android development, its a rabbit trail sir.

Well thank you for your hard work, I for one appreciate it, and I always tap that thanks button for any developer (and debuggers) working on my current handset.I think I'm well within my right to debate since I helped messi with this project doing all the testing and debugging of the recovery, and even though messi did most of the work, I personally know how many hours myself and messi and led eyes spent working on this project. As per discussion in this thread I kindly donated to achieve root and I thanked the developer. But not sure why its a big deal , I threw $50 bucks down hoping it would get the ball rolling with development but it didn't . now probably never will since its seems we moved backwards. I appreciate all that was done . but quite honestly I feel a little duped and if I knew it would have come to this I might have thought differently about donating . sorry for the rant
Maybe its me but I've spent lots of time modding and theming apps and sharing and never received a dime and could careless about thanks
